What happened to good manners?

Well, it's been awhile since I've last written.  I was hoping my next piece would be Castro's obituary.  Unfortunately he's still around.  On top of all that I've heard he's asked for a priest.  I think he's going to be busy in the confessional for awhile.

Okay, this is not going to be what I'm writing about.  What I will write about is something I'm sure many out there have experienced.  Last week, I was driving home from work when all of a sudden a car perpendicular to me made a left turn and cut me off.  Of course I had to apply my brakes in order to avoid hitting him.  Now, you would think I would be upset....which I was but not compared to the guy who cut me off.  He actually pulled to the side of me and started flipping me off.  Here is where I get confused.  He cuts me off and gets angry at me.

Another day, I almost got into an accident because someone was going in reverse without realizing there was oncoming traffic.  Now, I don't have to mention about drivers who seem to be turn-signal challenged.  You see where I'm going with this.

It seems to me as we become more concerned about our health with second-hand smoke, obesity and such, we are forgetting about values, etiquette, and just good manners.

Have a HAPPY LABOR DAY!!

Hey Fidel, you gone yet?

Yeah, I know I know.  I'm a Christian and I'm suppose to pray for those who persecute you.  However, when do we get to stop throwing Pearls to swine?  When do we get to wipe the dust off our sandals when the Gospel was rejected?

Am I sorry that Fidel is almost dead?  NO  NOT ME.  The man is evil.  How many thousands is he responsible for who died in the Havana gulag?  But hey, everybody can read there.  Plus, there's medical care too.  Unless of course you have AIDS.  Then you're shipped off to a remote island and left to die.  It makes a leper colony look like the Ritz.  For those who want to read the wonderful things Fidel and Che have done check out "Fidel" by Humberto Fontova.

I pray that the Cuban people will be able to breathe the air of freedom and see the light of liberty once the darkness of totalitarianism is gone.

Much Ado about a drunk

Well, it's been awhile since I last wrote to you.  Been busy and as I can see, so have our media.  Let's see....Lance Bass is a homosexual...i'm sorry can we still say that?  Anyway, WHO REALLY CARES!!  Of course the biggest news is Hollywood's favorite son-MEL GIBSON.

I'm not here to defend his bonehead remarks.  Heck I've had a few friends say some crazy things to me about Christians when they were drunk.  As for me when I get intoxicated, I just get funny.  Too bad Mel Gibson doesn't.  No mojitos for him.  I'm glad he has apologized and wants to meet with Jewish leaders too.

Unfortunately the so-called tolerant people don't seem too forgiving.  Maybe if he would've picked up a street hooker or was a pedophile (Roman Polanski) it would've been fine.  But what I don't understand is why ABC would pull the plug on a mini-series on the holocaust.  Maybe the execs at ABC had a few too many to drink.  Gee what would happen if Spike Lee said some things about White folks and someone pulled the plug on one of his projects.  Oh wait, he has said some things but who remembers.

Yes, Mel is a public figure and that's the price one pays.  But isn't a wrong response to yank a mini-series about the Jewish holocaust?  I think someone let their emotions drive their intellect while being angry.

Of course as the news, talkradio, fm radio and others talk about this, it's kind of wild that the news about the shooting rampage in Seattle came and left.  I'm even forgetting that a Muslim named Naveed Haq opened fire on a Jewish Women's Center and killed one woman and five others injured.  Or was there any coverage about a Muslim doctor in Texas shooting a bicyclist (check it out on Little Green Footballs, Sat. 7/29/06)

But hey, the news media knows what is important and what needs to be shown.  Good thing they weren't around during WWII.  They would be showing injured German children and we would still have the Nazis to deal with.

Continue the Reagan Legacy

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't written lately.  Been down for the count (sick) but doing better now.  Well, it's another hot day in Southern California.  All I say is to continue something our Late Great President Ronald Wilson Reagan started;    "HAPPY ICE CREAM DAY"  yes, today the third Sunday of July is Ice Cream Day.  Go out and enjoy one of our favorite pasttimes.  BTW, anybody out there remember "Soda Jerks" in Pasadena.  When will they reopen?  In fact, I think I'll go grab a Haggen Daz bar right now.  Thanks a lot Gipper for just another thing you handed down to us.

A Quote for the day

I heard a quote today from a missionary from the Congo.  He asked us to keep the Congo in our prayers as they have presidential elections.  I pray it goes smoother than the elections in Mexico.  At present it appears the one who lost will not concede.

Anyway, the quote came from the sister of Corrie Ten Boom.  FYI; Corrie Ten Boom and her sister were in a Nazi Concentration Camp for hiding Jews in their house.  The sister died in the camp.  Well, when Corrie was scared and feared for her life, her sister told her that "the center of God's will is our safety".

When I heard that it blew me away.  Just something I wanted to share with you.

God bless, Abe

devil wears prada

Yes, I actually wanted to see this movie and I did enjoy it.  Meryl Streep did an excellent job as did Anne Hathaway.  Heidi Klum had a bit spot in this movie.  She looked as good as always.  Oh yeah, anyway.  Movie was good.  Storyline flowed and nobody was kicking my seat from behind.

My Premiere Blog

WOW!!!!  HERE IT IS!!  My very first blog.  To all of those who are privileged to be the first viewers; Congratulations!!

Ok, is it just me or is it getting hotter?  Maybe there is something to what Al Gore has been trying to tell us.  Or could it just be a heat wave?  One thing I am thankful for is Air Conditioning.  Can you imagine how life must have been during our grandparents time?  It sure is nice to be able to get into the car and turn on that A/C and start heading to whatever destination one is going to.  I gotta say; GOD BLESS THE USA!!

Ok, short and sweet for now but more will come.  Oh yeah, go see "Superman Returns".  Pretty good movie.

Always remember; "If you could dodge a wrench, you could dodge a ball" from the movie "Dodgeball".

G-d bless, Abe
